Posterity is silent, like the dead, and more pathetic.
For Percy Wyndham Lewis 18th November, 1882 - 7th March, 1957
Alas! necessity for big doll's show in front of mouth Visitation of Heaven on English Miss gums, canines of FIXED GRIN Death's Head symbol of Anti-Life
The last picture is so camp isn't it? I love it. Bless everything Lewis today. Blast Neu Labour.
Bless goodness and spirit. Blast hate. Bless friendship and sharing. Blast poxy art. Bless Star Trek. Blast normality. Bless dressing up and stripping. Blast bad books. Bless Joyce. Blast training. Bless black. Blast white. Bless tight corsets. Blast tights. Bless see through. Blast cover up. Bless high heels. Blast flatties. Bless collars. Blast anger. Bless all that is right. Blast all that is wrong.
The last picture also suggests Lewis' characteristic pugnaciousness ... he's saying "who are you looking at"? He was pure punk, old Wyndham. A one man art movement , a real renaissance man
Ah ha! found you dear doctor Anthony; the Lewis picture is so cool, like Kools, those mentho-whoopingcough smokes, found at your favorite grocer's and tobacconists...

Yeh, Shit to New Labour.
Near-faultless blesses and blasts, Molly. I do like cover-up, personally; and I'm more shady on Star Trek perhaps; though I do like The Shat!
Those Futurist offshoots and environs were surely proto-punk, as you say, Anthony. Blast ... we should make a blog especially.

...as for Shat, me own fader went to school with 'em in Montreal, even played on the selfsame football (no, not soccer) team.
My da has a picture of the team, from 1945 I believe it is, William the only one with a freshly-laundered and pressed football costume...
