I was thinking of selling shares ... we are supposed to be a stakeholder society, after all ... maybe they could burn me at it too.
Like many a saint, I have a martyrdom complex.
In my experience, Anthony, all blokes have in fact a Jesus complex. We want to be heroes, prophets, soothsayers, etc. I know I do.
The thing 'they' prevent you from doing is not so much having a real stake in society as having a real stake in one's self. 'They' know how to intervene. Consumer society does ontological damage, in my view. That's where my own tiny-war-of-no-wider-consequence is.
Yes, forget about being alienated from society, most are alienated from themselves.
