Probably too obscure cultural references for anyone outside the U.K. ... Arthur Daley, the git at the top, was a TV character, a conman and a byword for venality and cowardice. Unaccountably held in great affection by the British public. Mary Whitehouse was a campaigner for the 'moral majority' - pro-censorship, anti-sex, anti-fun, anti-life.
The turd at the bottom is a delusional prick who thinks he runs the U.K. and exerts an influence on Dubya.

Is it just me, or does Mary Whitehouse look like she's smirking at some half-remembered dirty joke in that picture?

Well, since most censors spend their time repressing all those normal urges, they've got to be welling up somewhere ... which may well have meant that ol'Mary had a filthy sense of humour and was wild in the bedroom.
Which is not a pretty thought.

None of these people ever ruled the world...

I believe the world would actually be BETTER if Blair DID rule it - like, on his own, rather than with Bush's hand up his bum.... note I said 'better' in a relative sense, rather than 'good' in an absolute one..

The revolution will never come whilst we persist in seeing Arthur Daley as the problem - it's the system, not its' products that need undermining...

Mary Whitehouse - good telly, but that's all - did anyone take her seriously?

Except for Spitting Image...

Oh, and 'Oink' comic in the 80's....

(Actually, 'Oink' - remember that? I liked those surreal Mr Big Nose strips.... he'da known who was to be first against the wall.... who owns blogger anyway?)

'Better' in an extremely relative sense ... then again, almost anyone would be better then the simian misbirth currently squatting on the big desk in the Oval Office.
When Bush inserts his paw up the glove puppet Blair, how does Blair manage to get his tongue up the Bush sphincter?
Blair, apparently wants a job with a purpose after being ejected from no. 10 ... any suggestions?

"and now that there is no one left to vote for and there has very rarely been,
any voices of the people who were not of the machine".

"same old hand bag at the helm".

so true. the iraq travesty to one side, the one thing the uk government can claim is to have the best economy in the world at present 9questionable maybe). all of which has been inherited from thatcher.

What's the betting that, before Blair starts raking in the dollars on the US lecture circuit (like Thatch did) he has his oh-so-English teeth fixed up?

I think I actually loathe him more than I hated Thatcher. We never had any illusions about her - with TB, we feel conned as well.

Yeah, much as I hate (HATE) Thatcher, Blair I hate more.
Absolute disaster for this country.

we weren't great for him either sometimes.....

If only we'd tried to understand...

"When you gotta job to do you gotta do it well, you gotta give the other fella Hell..."
Sums up UK foreign policy pretty well...
